Tap Youth

Values

The focus for youth at Tap Nights is during the Saturday night service. We see “youth” as starting in grade 6. The following leading values guide our choices for the youth at Tap Nights:

• increased integration into the full church body

• opportunities to try out serving opportunities

• guidance in learning to engage with sermons as a time when God speaks, encourages, and challenges them personally

• intermittent age-specific discipleship

Youth Discipleship

Once a month there is a specific discipleship time for youth in grades 6-10 that runs during the Saturday worship. On these weekends, youth join the whole congregation for the first two worship songs and then meet a youth volunteer in the foyer when the service host dismisses the kids. This monthly time involves games and faith formation activities that are geared towards this age group. Sermon Resource

On the Saturdays without youth discipleship, youth are invited to slip out to the foyer before the sermon to take a resource made specifically for them to use in engaging personally with the sermon. Alternatively, youth are invited to fill in the sermon handout and place it in the labelled container in the foyer at the end of the service. At the end of each sermon series one handout is drawn and that youth receives a $25 giftcard of their choice.

Serving

We are committed at Tap Nights to provide opportunities and mentorship for youth to grow in developing their own giftings and learning the place serving fits in the communal worshipping life of the church. The following serving opportunities are possible options for youth in the Tap Nights community:

• Kids: nursery helper, kids helper

• Worship: audio/visual, instrumental, vocal

• Hospitality: preparing post-service refreshments
